WWW: you have conducted a range of good photoshoots that are inspired by your chosen photographer. I like that you have selected skylines as a theme and looked into rural environments. EBI: conduct a photoshoot that looks at the urban environment and how this can be combined with geometric forms as inspired by your chosen photographers.

WWW: some interesting initial results. You have explored the work of your chosen photographer confidently. EBI: not sure about the photoshoot from the bedroom window. Try to maintain a focus.
To improve i have taken Clear focus of reflection with some highly relevant critical analysis.
To improve: can you integrate mirrors and water into 1 photoshoot? Which artists have used this technique? To improve I have done a photoshoot of reflections using water but it didn't turn out how I want it to. You can't really see facial expressions in the water because of the trees surrounding the water making it dark. A nicely presented and clear focus on the theme of water reflections. This links to your chosen photographer and your intentions are supported through a reasonably confident initial photoshoot.
To improve: avoid using the slideshow element for uploading images, use gallery instead. Complete critical analysis into the work of Tom Hussey. To improve my work I have done a critical analysis of Tom Hussey and his series of photographs - "Reflections of the Past". You have started to explore a great idea - manipulating people into a miniature environment. However, you will need to develop and refine your photoshop skills to secure the best outcome. Youtube has some excellent tutorials on merging images. Your ideas need to be articulated through mindmapping. You should also complete a critical analysisto Slinkachu's work and find a photographer that is related to your idea. This has the potential to be a really strong project, but does need a lot more development and refinement to be a successful final piece.
STUDENT RESPONSE I have added mindmaps to display my ideas, I still need to upload my improved final piece as it is still not on my website. This term we have been working on the Narrative project focusing on the work by David Hockney. I'm going to complete a photograph which tells a story which is what Hockney does is his pictures. I'm either going to do a joiner or a photograph inside a photograph.
Feedback: Some good ideas outlined through your mindmap. A reasonably confident exploration into the joiner technique. Your project page is a bit disorganised and therefore hard to follow. You should elaborate on your ideas to explain the techniques you wish to investigate. To achieve a higher grade you should add more depth into your initial ideas. My current grade is a U with 9 marks. Student Response: In my mind maps showing my ideas I will go into more detail and I will also reorganise my project page to make it easier for people to navigate through it. WWW: Some creative images for your alphabet project, with good control of the camera. Composition of most of the images is reasonably good with the focus being the letter within object.
EBI: A lot of your images are slightly or very out of focus. These will need to be re-taken. Student response: I will re-take my photos to make sure they're in focus. I will change the aperture and either manually focus it or auto focus it so it is a higher quality than it is. We have recently started looking at the 'Alphabet Project'. We have been looking at the photographer Jennifer Blakeley and her work. She takes photos of objects which look like the letters of the alphabet, and turns them into words. We are going to do our own version of Blakeleys work by finding objects which look like letters. I will update my work weekly under 'projects' 'Alphabet project' and then the week number.
In the past few weeks we have been working on the photographer Edward Weston, and we've been trying to take photographs inspired by him. Edward Weston takes photos of organic things (e.g seashells, peppers) and turns them into black and white. I took a few photos of a skull and edited them into black and white on Photoshop to make it in the style of Weston. I was really pleased with my work as you can tell that Weston inspired me, and I really like the way the skull looks when it is in black and white.
Teacher Feedback on Edward Weston work WWW: A very systematic and consistent approach to your coursework! Excellent evidence of understanding and responding to the work of a photographer. The contrast of tones on the skull is excellent. Great use of artificial light to introduce strong value. EBI: ... you considered what was going on in the background of your work. This week I have been working on my website, I have been improving it and making it look more professional. I changed my theme and made everything easy to find. I really enjoyed playing round with the themes and looking at which made my website look the best. I found it a bit boring making all the text a different colour and size to make it stand out more.
